HomeWordBook 3.xWordBook for Smartphone ManualAdding full dictionary data to your smartphone

3.1. Adding full dictionary data to your smartphone

By default, the dictionary setup utility installs a "lite" version of the dictionary database to save space in your Smartphone. This is also because of the limitation of Active Sync installation not being able to use external storage card for temporary setup cab file. WordBook developers have to make sure the file small enough to fit in internal memory.

To add the full 150,000 entries of the full dictionary after installation of the default lite data, please follow instructions below:

  1. If WordBook is running, exit WordBook by entering #911* when viewing a definition.
  2. Download full dictionary file
    wordnet.zip
unzip it to WordNet.wbd in your PC
  3. Connect the smartphone to your PC using Active Sync cable (or cradle)
  4. Use File Explorer in your PC, go to My Computer, click on Mobile Device then locate the location where WordBook is installed. You will see wordbooksp.exe program file and other data files. One of them is wordnet.wbd.
  5. Drag and drop the file (wordbook.wbd) in to the folder. It will overwrite the smaller file already exists there.
After the file is transferred, you can start WordBook again to have the full dictionary.
